Polish welterweight Rafael Jackiewicz won the vacant IBC title last night in Kedzierzyn Kozle with a unanimous decision over Joel Mayo, who put up a brave performance. "Jackie fought a perfect fight" says Hammer Knockout´s Andrew Wasilewski, "but Mayo kept coming until the end. It was a tough, bloody fight."
On the undercard Sauerland Event´s jr middleweight Alexander Sipos returned to action and outscored Russian Tagir Rzaev over eight. Heavies Volodia Lazebnik and Tomasz Bonin also won. Lazebnik stopped Latvian Aleksandre Borhovs in the fifth while Bonin outscored Alexander Subin over six.
French middleweight Francois Bastient stopped Finn Kai Kauramaki in six Friday night in Fourmies. Kauramaki was retired in his corner with a broken nose.
Italian light heavyeights Leonardo Turchi and Remo Tatangelo clash again for the national title on July 15 in Seguals. It´s their fifth meeting. The score is 1-1-2 so one might say they are evenly matched.
French flyweight Brahim Asloum is heading for Buenos Aires reports netboxe.com for a training camp in preparation for his fight on July 15 in Le Cannet. Asloum is now trained by Dan Birmingham.
Italian jr middleweight Sven Paris is currently in the Domican Republic training under former contender Freddy Cruz. Paris has a fight scheduled in Santo Domingo on June 20.
French supermiddle Jean Paul Mendy outscored late sub Laurent Goury over eight last night (June 10) in Luce. EBU welter champ Frederik Klose did the same to Romanian Vasile Stan in a non-title fight.
Belgian light Rachid Mokhtari stopped Slovakian Lubos Priehradnak in the fifth in the headliner of a show in Verviers on June 10.
