German Thomas Ulrich has relinquished the EBU 175 lb title to concentrate on his world title ambitions. Stablemate Stipe Drvis, who´s been mandatory challenger for a very long time, will take on Italian veteran Silvio Branco for the vacant title with, the date and site has yet to be determined.
Universum will close out the season on July 2 with the Erdei vs Sahnoune show at the Color Line Arena in Hamburg, but they have already announced a show for Karlsruhe on September 10. Headlining is WIBF champ Regina Halmich with EBU jr middle champ Sergei Dzindziruk in the chief support, heavyweight Ruslan Chagaev is on the undercard.
Supermiddle Dimitri Sartision is sick and his Int´l German titlefight against Alexander Awidjan on June 28 in Cuxhaven is off. Elevated to mainevent status is Khoren Gevor vs Frank Mezaache, a highly interesting non-title middleweight fight. Also worth keeping an eye on is 2-0 cruiser Enad Licina.
Spaniard Karim Quibir, due to injury, pulled out of his upcoming challenge against EBU superbantam champ Simone Maludrottu, which was on for July 16 in Olbia (Italy). The fight will now go ahead in September. Maludrottu´s promoter Antonio Puddu is working on a voluntary defense for his man prior to that date.
Former World champ Gianfranco Rosi, 47 going on 48, retained the IBF Mediterranean 160 lb title last night on June 24 in Budapest with an unanimous decision over Frenchman Sylvain Gomis.
Tundra vs Barcelo is booked for Borox on July 23 with heavyweight Felix Blazquez, minifly Rafael Lozano and supermiddle Alfonso Sanchez on the bill.
