Newly crowned EU 160 lb champ Amin Asikainen began the day after his win over Christophe Tendil by appearing,along with trainer and manager Pekka Maeki, on Finnish sports TV. Asikainen could get a chance to fight EBU ruler Sebastian Sylvester already June 3 in Hannover in a supporting bout to Valuev vs Beck. Sylvester have his mandatory defence coming up but his opponent there, Javier Castillejo, could, as previously reported, be fighting WBA king Felix Sturm instead and this will pave the way for another voluntary defense by Sylvester.
Italian cruiserweight Giacobbe Fragomeni has his next fight scheduled for the Spanish island of Ibiza May 26. Topping the bill is WBC Latino champ Sergio "Maravilla" Martinez.
The EBU have its General Assembly set for June 3 in Belgrade.
The 1st Delannoit Brothers Memorial takes place on May 13 in Geraardsbergen and is topped by a BeNeLux 135 lb titlefight between Hovhannes Zhamkochyan and Rachid Mokhtari. The most famous of the three Delannoit brothers was Cyril, who won and lost against Marcel Cerdan, fought Sugar Ray Robinson and other topnotchers during the 40´s and 50´s.
