According to Boxxer head Ben Shalom, who promotes former junior middleweight champion Liam Smith, a new rematch date has been provided to Chris Eubank Jr.
They were scheduled to collide on July 1, but Smith withdrew from the fight due to injury.
Back in January, Smith pulled off a stunning upset when he knocked out Eubank in the fourth round. The outcome marked the first stoppage loss for Eubank's professional run.
Eubank had the contractual right to an immediate rematch, which he exercised.
There have been circulating statements regarding the possibility of Eubank going in another direction by facing Conor Benn in the Middle East.
Eubank and Benn were set to face each other last October, but the contest was called off during fight week when Benn tested positive for a banned substance.
Shalom still expects the Smith vs. Eubank rematch to take place.
"I expect it to happen and [for] it to happen very soon now that Liam has confirmed his 100% fitness," Shalom told BBC 5 Live Boxing.
"We've sent the date over to Wasserman [Eubank's promoters] and hopefully we can confirm something next week."
Regarding Benn, the unbeaten welterweight contender is still in the dark on his boxing future.
UK Anti-Doping Agency (UKAD) and the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBoC) are investigating the drug testing controversy with Benn and have yet to make a ruling.
Benn was provisionally suspended by UKAD in March and currently he does not possess a valid license to box in the UK.
Shalom sees no reason to discuss the scenario with Benn until UKAD makes a ruling on his case.
"I don't think we should talk about other fighters until UKAD has gone through their process," Shalom said of talks Eubank could fight Benn.
