Juan Francisco Estrada, the super flyweight champion of the World Boxing Council (WBC), will be in a high sporting form when he has the opportunity to have a rematch with WBA world champion Román "Chocolatito" González, according to the trainer of the Mexican fighter, Alfredo Caballero.
"If there is a fight, Estrada will arrive in shape, with at least four months of training and with some advantages such as fighting in his correct division, as a champion and with more experience," Caballero said.
Eddie Hearn, who works with both boxers, would like to match them against each other in a rematch targeted for the fall.
The possible fight between Estrada and Gonzalez is one of the most desired in boxing.
The two fighters have demanded good money to face each other. If the fight takes place, according to Caballero, it will be at the highest level of skill.
"There is no need to take anything away from the merits of Chocolatito. He is a complete boxer who is not finished," acknowledged Caballero.
The rivalry between the two boxers goes back to November 2012, when Chocolatito defeated Estrada by unanimous decision. That fight took place at the junior flyweight division, with Estrada dropping down for his only fight to ever take place at that weight class.
There is also Srisaket Sor Rungvisai, who remains as the number one contender under the WBC at super flyweight. Estrada has fought him twice, going 1-1 in their two fight series.
"There have already been two with Rungvisai. The first was even, they gave it to [Rungvisai], although I did not see it that way. In the second Juan Francisco clearly won; I prefer to go directly with Chocolatito, but it depends on the purse because it is not fair that the small weight fighters earn so little money," Caballero said.
Estrada has a record with 40 wins, 27 by knockout, and three losses, while Chocolatito has a pro tally of 50 wins, 2 defeats, and 43 big wins by knockout.
