Estrada-Segura Showdown Targeted For September 5

Promoter Fernando Beltran of Zanfer Promotions is targeting a date of September 5th for the anticipated fight between WBO/WBA flyweight champion Juan Francisco Estrada (26-2, 19KOs) and mandatory challenger Giovani Segura (32-3-1, 28KOs). Beltran says the fight is going to take place at the Arena in Mexico City.

Beltran cautions that a deal has yet to be finalized for the match. He is looking at the idea of possibly having both fighters see action, in separate fights, on a card being planned for a date in July. Segura won the opportunity fight for Estrada's titles last November when he knocked out Hernan 'Tyson' Marquez in the twelfth and final round of a final eliminator endorsed by the World Boxing Organization.
