IBF welterweight champion Errol Spence (23-0, 20 KOs)) was in Las Vegas over the weekend to catch the Erislandy Lara-Jarrett Hurd super welterweight unification clash.
Prior to the fight, Spence met with media members and discussed a variety of topics including a potential rematch against Kell Brook (37-2, 26 KOs) at 154 pounds.
Spence stopped Brook in 11 rounds last May and broke his eye socket in the process. Brook had moved up to middleweight in his previous fight when he was stopped by Gennady Golovkin and Brook partially blamed the loss on the difficulty he had in cutting back down to 147 pounds.
Brook has since bounced back, by officially moving up to the junior middleweight division. He returned last month with an easy two round knockout of Sergey Rabchenko.
Brook was red hot in several post fight interviews and stated that he's confident beating Spence in the two of them ever met at 154-pounds.
Spence took to his social media account and told Brook to get a belt a 154 and then he would grant him a rematch.
“He said why don't you fight me at 154 now and I said, 'well I already beat you. You get a title and I move up to 154 and beat you again and I become a two-time world champion,’ but I guess he didn't like that idea," said Spence.
Even though he won the first fight decisively, Spence said that he wouldn’t have any issues fighting Brook again in his backyard.
"If he gets the belt I probably would go back to the UK and fight him. I don't care," said Spence.
Spence is scheduled to defend his title on June 16th in Dallas, Texas. The contest will be a mandatory title fight with unbeaten Carlos Ocampo of Mexico.
