When heavyweight contender Erkan Teper came back to the ring this past Sunday, he was still listed by both boxrec, Fight Fax and the EBU as still suspended.
Teper (16-0 or 15-0-0-1) returned to action after almost a year out in Lueneburg (Germany) and won a ten round unanimous decision over American contender DerricRossy (30-12). It was scored 98-92, 97-93 and 96-94. The show was promoted by PSP Boxing and sanctioned by the BDB (German Boxing Commission).
Teper was suspended for two years by the EBU after failing a doping test after winning the EBU title July 17, 2015, with a second round knockout over David Price.
The fact of the matter is that Teper, his promoter Z! and the BDB came to an agreement before July 3 that ended the suspension (not with the EBU though).
According to boxen1.com – quoting BDB President Thomas Puetz – Teper had to pay a hefty fine, and must be subject to random testing at all times – all paid for by Z!. It was also made clear that this is Teper´s last chance – another positive test and he faces and indefinite suspension.
This suspension is still in effect by the EBU and is supposed to be respected by the EBU members - but in reality it only blocks Teper from EBU sanctioned fights.
