EC Boxing and Z! Promotion presents two interesting heavyweight matchups October 15 in Hamburg. In the biggest fight Erkan Teper (16-0) squares off against Christian Hammer (19-4) for the vacant WBO European title and in the co-feature Franz Rill (13-1) defends the IBF International title against unbeaten Swede Adrian Granat (13-0, 12KOs).
Teper returned to action in July after almost a year out on a controversial doping suspension and outscored Derrick Rossy over ten. He´s a somewhat primitive fighter but can punch with either hand. In Hammer he face a good opponent with good skills but must be regarded as a favourite.
Granat will face the first test of his career in Franz Rill. He did blow out the likes of Michael Sprott in the very first but Sprott´s best days were far behind him. Rill stepped in for the then injured (later doping suspended) stablemate Teper in December of last year against and lost to Robert Helenius but bounced back with two knockout wins this year including one over Salvatore Erittu in Italy.
IN OTHER NEWS: With less than four weeks to prepare, welterweight prospect George Hennon (4-1) has taken a fight on September 23rd at Grays Civic Hall on a Carl Greaves Promotions show.
The Kent puncher, trained by brothers Johnny and Frank Greaves at the Peacock Gym in Canning Town, was due to have a break after completing his first year punching for pay but when the offer came up to fight on promoter Carl Greaves’ next show in Essex, he took it without a moment’s hesitation.
A former kickboxing champion, Hennon adapted to the pro’s extremely well by winning four of his five fights since his debut back in June last year. Hennon’s next fight in November will be back at the Grays Civic Hall in Essex for the fifth time in his career; the venue has quickly become known as his fortress to his army of fans from Kent.
