According to former champion Erik Morales (49-6, 34 KOs), his fight with Willie Limond (32-2, 8KOs) stands a very good chance of taKing place at the Plaza de Toros de Mexico on September 11. Morales fought at the venue in 2003 when he destroyed Eddie Croft in three rounds. A big event will be planned to celebrate Mexican Independence Day.

"I have a proposal to fight that day and that makes me feel honored because the Plaza Mexico has always been a scenario that requires a lot, besides, fighting in September has been important for all Mexican fighters," Morales told Sal Rodriguez.

Morales would state that he was open to taking a fourth battle with Marco Antonio Barrera, or a fight with Humberto Soto. They compete at lower weights. Barrera will be challenging Soto for his WBC lightweight title in the near future. Morales is fighting two divisions north at welterweight. Not likely a meeting with either will happen.
