Former three division champion Erik "El Terrible" Morales says his training camp has been perfect for the junior welterweight fight with Marcos "Chino" Maidana, scheduled for April 9 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Morales is ready to show that he is still one of the best boxers in the sport. He is well aware of the danger that Maidana brings to the table.
"Maidana is a very dangerous fighter, who hits hard, but my boxing is back. This preparation is one of the most beautiful and intelligent that I've done in my career because I do not feel pressure, and most important, I'm not suffering from the weight. Everything we're doing it with more maturity," Morales said.
The Mexican boxer has cut his weight and he's well on schedule to making the division limit of 140-pounds. In the past Morales killed his body to make the weight limits of various divisions. He doesn't expect any problems for this bout.
"I lost [55-pounds] without sacrificing too much and I feel strong. I think I can fight against the best and I can make a nice finish to my career. I was too sad to think that my career was over in such a bad way a few years ago. I think that I deserve a better way to finish," said Morales.
