WBC junior welterweight champion Erik Morales (52-7, 36KOs) likes the idea of fighting a 23-year-old undefeated up-and-comer on January 28th at the Reliant Arena in Houston, Texas. Morales makes the first defense of his title against Danny Garcia (22-0, 14KOs). HBO will televise the fight. Junior middleweight James Kirkland faces Carlos Molina in the co-featured bout.

There are two popular debates to this fight, which makes it an interesting contest. Will the younger Garcia get overwhelmed by the veteran? Or will the veteran finally show his age against the faster, younger boxer?

"Danny Garcia is in the number two position in the world [rankings]. Once again we will show just how ready we are. I had previously said that in 2012 we were going to start with the best and now we have this good fight. I am confident in my training. On Tuesday I'm going to the Otomí Ceremonial Center with my team led by my father José Morales, my brothers Diego and Ivan, Osvaldo Murillo, and a group of assistants. I see this as a difficult fight for him, and for me. Some people say it's very dangerous, but my career has been filled [with fights] against dangerous opponents," Morales told Sal Rodriguez.
