WBC junior welterweight champion Érik Morales paid no attention to the comments from Danny Garcia (22-0, 14KOs) and his team, as the two sides traded words at a recent media function in Houston, Texas. This Saturday at the Reliant Arena, Morales (52-7, 36 KOs) warned the younger and undefeated Garcia that he will end regretting his decision to take this fight and after the fight is over - the Puerto Rican boxer will call Morales the "teacher."
"Over and over again I've heard that my time has come, that there will be a new era of boxing, that my time has passed - but if they believe that I picked this fight because I thought there was a chance of me losing - they're wrong. They [Garcia and his team] believe [the fight] is easy, but I will say it right now that technique will never be overcome by speed or power," Morales said.
"I've had five fights since I returned and I've heard the same words, and five times I have heard the same cries after the match. [After the fight is over], I don't want them to call me 'El Terrible', I want them to call me teacher. I've been in the ring with the best fighters in the world, and at 24-years-old - doing a comparison with myself at that age, I was already a champion, and faced the best of Mexico, and I was the best super bantamweight in the world."
