José Morales, father and trainer of three-time world champion Erik "Terrible" Morales, has studied his son's next opponent, Scottish fighter Willie Limond, who will face Morales on September 11 in Tijuana or Mexico City.
"The Scottish fighter is no puncher. In a nutshell, he has an Olympic-style. His record of thirty-three fights with two defeats and eight knockouts speaks very highly of him," Jose Morales said to reporter Jose Soriano.
"Limond is a fighter who was at the Olympic Games in Athens. He is an opponent who is familar with going the distance. We will require speed, Erik Morales has to move to avoid his punches and use his experience."
Special sparring partners are going to be brought in to match Limond's style of fighting.
"We will look for sparring partners with a similar style to Limond. Ramon" Golden Boy "Ayala, he can be very helpful as he has straight punches, speed, and a high output. we will also look for other opponents," Jose Morales argued.
"Limond's experience and good boxing ability is what I want for Erik. I want him to face the best opponents. We do not want to be the kind of people who return to face second-tier opponents. My son wants to face boxers with ability. Erik told me he wants to be the first Mexican to fight for five world championships. He already won three, and only two are missing. That shows his clear ambition as a fighter. I'm proud of him. "
