Erik Morales (48-6, 34KOs), a former three division champion, still wants to return to the ring. Morales has been winless since a decision victory over Manny Pacquiao on March 19, 2005. Since then he lost four fights in a row, including two knockout defeats to Pacquiao and decision losses to Zahir Raheem and David Diaz. Morales has been out of the ring since October 2007, when he lost to Diaz. He announced his retirement after that loss, but a few months later he wanted to return.

During 2008, Morales tried his best to push for a showdown with countryman Juan Manuel Marquez, but the fight never picked up steam. He tells ESTO that he put on some weight since the long layoff and recently returned to the gym to start training. He wants to return in the month of July, at lightweight, and make one final run for a world title. Morales wants to become the first Mexican fighter to win four major titles in four weight divisions.
