The opponent for former champ Eric Morel (39-2, 20KOs) has been named. On December 13 in Puerto Rico, headlining a card called "The Final Step," Morel will face Mexican veteran Ricardo 'Chapo' Vargas in a bantamweight contest. Vargas has lost his last couple of bouts but he's rugged and has faced stiff competition like Rafael Marquez, Silence Mabuza and Jhonny Gonzalez. Back in 2002-2003, Vargas was a serious conteder, holding two wins over Gonzalez, Trinidad Mendoza and Gerson Guerrero.

Undefeated super featherweight prospect Roman "Rocky" Martínez (20-0-1, 12KOs) will appear in the co-feature. Should Morel and Martinez win their bouts, Ivan Rivera of Puerto Rico Best Boxing told El Nuevo Dia that he plans to get them titles shots in 2009.
