The wait continues for Eric Morel, who was scheduled face Panama's Anselmo "Chemito" Moreno for the WBA bantamweight super title on October 15 and then it was rescheduled for November 5 because Panamanian required a hernia operation. But now Moreno's title status has been suspended over a legal dispute with his manager.
Moreno's problems leaves another option. On Wednesday, Koki Kameda retained his WBA "regular" belt - and Morel is ready to face him.
"Moreno is in a legal dispute with his manager and we are very sad about it. We wanted that fight. But, it seems the WBA's decision will leave Koki Kameda [as the only champion at bantamweight] and we have no problem fighting Kameda if he wants it. We told our promoters [Golden Boy] that we don't care if fight Goliath or King Kong, we will fight him," said Cyril Morel, the father and coach of Eric.
"Eric is available. We want to fight for the title. We already had targeted Moreno, who is a very good fighter but we don't know what's going to happen with the WBA. We'll fight against any bantamweight champion."
