Former champion and bantamweight contender Eric Morel is ready to return to the ring, this time stepping back up to ten rounds in the month of February, and then plans to target a world title fight at 118 pounds, according to his coach and father, Cyril, who added some information that promoter Javier Bustillo is interested in putting together a show for his fight and holding it in Ponce.

"They [Golden Boy] even said they could match us with any of the four fighters who began in the tournament. And now after the 10-round bout in Puerto Rico, we can then search for the world title. Bustillo approached us and told us that he would like to stage this fight in February and we told him that he had to talk to Golden Boy Promotions. He says that he has a good relationship with them," Cyril said.

Morel picked up a win last Saturday by way of an eight-round unanimous decision over Juan José Beltrán, who took a beating, according to Cyril.

"Eric looked huge, very strong and it was good to go the distance but the referee could have stopped the fight. We are ready to go for the bantamweight title and then move to 122 and then to 126 pounds. Those are our plans and we will stand by them."
