Eric Morel (42-2, 21KOs), who on December 11 will see in action in Guanajuato, Mexico, in his first fight since signing with Golden Boy Promotions, is likely going to use the fight as a building block for a title fight in late January or early February. According to his father and trainer Cyril Morel, the fight in early 2011 could very well be against WBA bantamweight champion Anselmo "Chemito" Moreno (30-1, 10KOs).
"As Eric has gone about ten months without a fight, he's going to return on December 11 and we are training very hard. Eric has to prove his worth. And in late January or early February we are discussing a world title fight against possibly Moreno," Cyril said.
Morel, 35 years old, was the interim-WBO bantamweight champion up until a few weeks ago. He gave up his interim-title, and a set fight with Fernando Montiel, in order to sign with Golden Boy. Since returning to the ring in 2008 after almost three years of being inactive due to legal troubles, he's built a streak of balance of 7-0. In his last fight he won a split decision over Filipino Gerry Penalosa.
