Filipino fighter Eric Canoy, and Rajabu Maoja, collide for the vacant WBO Oriental featherweight title on Saturday night (Friday in the US) at the 12,000-seat Zamboanga City Coliseum in Tetuan east from downtown.

The local boy and Maoja, who hails from Tanzania, both declared an all-out war in the scheduled 12-round bout as main event of the second pro-boxing show in Zamboanga City since last year.

Canoy, the top prospect in Blue Stallion Stable of Congressman Erico Fabian, also headlined the card on December 1, 2007 in Zamboanga City where he stopped Sairung Raja Gym of Thailand in the fourth of scheduled 10-round contest.

Canoy and the 32-year-old import both tipped the scale two-pounds below the limit when they submitted 124-pounds each at the official weigh-in at the Marcian Garden Hotel.

WBO Vice-President for Asia-Pacific Leon Panoncillo, a Filipino-American from Hawaii but based in Bangkok, supervised the weigh-in as well as tonight’s championship bout.
