Travis Pomposello, the chief creative officer for EPIX Sports, resigned this morning from his position at a network and website that has aired numerous boxing matches from overseas during the past couple of years.
Pomposello announced his resignation in an email.
EPIX debuted its boxing programming in March 2011 with a bout between Vitali Klitschko and Odlanier Solis. Since then, the network has obtained rights to many significant foreign bouts, including Felix Sturm vs. Matthew Macklin, Alexander Povetkin vs. Ruslan Chagaev, Vitali Klitschko vs. Dereck Chisora, Lucian Bute vs. Carl Froch, Wladimir Klitschko’s rematch with Tony Thompson, and the rematch between Arthur Abraham and Robert Stieglitz.
The network has sought to reach its audience by offering free trials on its website, which gives access to a large library of films, as well as other original programming. EPIX has also been able to have its boxing cards shown on a large screen in New York City’s Times Square.
