Reports overseas indicate that Enzo Maccarinelli is being lined up to fight for his vacant WBO cruiserweight title in September. Enzo lost the title to David Haye in March. Haye has since vacated the belt in order to make his move to the heavyweight division. Some reports suggest that Enzo would face unbeaten Kronk prospect Johnathon Banks, but Wales Online says the opponent could also be undefeated Russian puncher Alexander Alekseev, who stopped 14 of his 15 opponents.

Enzo was scheduled to fight this coming weekend in Birmingham, but the event was canceled. This comes as bit of good news since Macca was upset over his return being pushed back due to issues with the show.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I’m itching to get back in the ring,” said Macca. The Haye fight seems a long time ago now and I was looking forward to next weekend. But unfortunately that’s the way these things go some time. I’ll have a couple of days off and then get back in the gym. It’s disappointing that the fight’s off, but I’ll come back stronger when given the chance.”
