Former WBO cruiserweight champion Enzo Maccarinelli has announced his retirement from the sport of boxing. Macca has lost three of his last four fights by knockout. last Saturday night in Manchester, he was stopped in three rounds by undefeated Denis Lebedev. He was also stopped by Ola Afolabi in March and was crushed in two rounds by David Haye last year.

Macca promised to retire if he tasted defeat last Saturday. He showed nothing and was battered for three rounds.

"That's it, there was nothing there on Saturday, that wasn't me," Macca said. "Take nothing away from Lebedev, he was a strong fighter, but everyone who has seen me and knows me will recognise that two years ago this kid wouldn't have gone two rounds with me. There was just nothing there and I am gutted."
