Flyweight Enkhmandakh Kharkhuu wants to answer the challenge made by Mikie Tallon to face him on the Saul “Canelo” Alvarez-Terence Crawford undercard.
Recently, Tallon told BoxingScene he was thrilled at the prospect of being featured on the Alvarez-Crawford undercard after Turki Alalshikh posted a photo of the young fighter, stating he wants to see him on the mega-fight card.
Kharkhuu, 6-0 (2 KOs), has tried to campaign at flyweight, but has found it hard to find fights. His pro debut was at bantamweight, and his last fight in March was a majority decision win over veteran Mario Hernandez. Kharkhuu, a 28-year-old Mongolian who trains in Los Angeles,
“I am ready for this type of fight, and I think facing Tallon is the fight fans want to see on Canelo-Crawford,” Kharkhuu said. “I want to make this fight happen and give the fans a great action fight between two young fighters.”
Kharkhuu, who is ranked No.11 by the WBA in the flyweight division, returns to Los Angeles at the end of the month. The team was already planning for him to fight in September, and Kharkhuu’s enthusiasm for the fight has them even more excited.
“He has never turned down a fight,” Pullman told BoxingScene. “This is the first time he has ever mentioned an opponent, ever. Up until this point, he never asks who the opponent is; he just gets ready for the fight.”
“Magi has a very fan-friendly style,” AJ Jafari, the co-manager of Kharkhuu, said. “Putting him up against another up-and-coming flyweight prospect on a big card is a great way for him to showcase his skills.”
Tallon, 9-0 (1 KO), is a 20-year-old fighter from Liverpool, England. Kharkhuu has been waiting for an opportunity to get a notable name; he hopes Tallon can fit the bill as the first up-and-comer he faces on the verge of title contention.
“I want to make this fight happen,” Kharkhuu said. “If you fight on this type of card, you have to show a warrior spirit and give the fans a great fight with a great opponent.”
