Carolina, Puerto Rico - On Monday, one of the most prominent fighters in the history of Puerto Rican amateur boxing, Emmanuel 'Manny' Rodriguez, headed off to London for his world title. The contest is scheduled for this Saturday, May 5 against former world champion Paul Butler.

The duel between Rodriguez (17-0, 12 KO) and Butler (26-1, 14 KO) will be for the vacant world bantamweight belt (118 lbs) of the International Boxing Federation, as part of a major card that will take place from the O2 Arena ( Millenium Dome) Greenwich in London, England.

The event is headlined by the heavyweight rematch between David Haye and Tony Bellew.

"We are looking for another dream in which we are in our best physical and mental condition. We will do our job to bring that victory and title to Puerto Rico. Thank you all for the support you have given me during all this time and all those who have had me in their prayers," said Emmanuel Rodriguez.

"Many situations have made my world title opportunity take a while, but my team has helped me stay focused throughout this process. We have no space to think about the past, or opponents who have not wanted to fight with me for whatever reasons. This Saturday, I will demonstrate that my level is of world caliber," said Rodríguez

"In my corner will be coaches Victor 'Cano' Ortíz and Freddy Trinidad. The boxing school of Puerto Rico will be felt in London," culminated Rodriguez, who is promoted by the company Fresh Productions.

Rodriguez's career in amateur boxing includes being the first Puerto Rican to win a gold medal in an Olympic Youth tournament (Singapore 2010), a silver medalist in the 2010 World Youth Championship in Azerbayan, a 2011 National Champion, a gold medal in the International Tournament José "Cheo" Aponte in 2009, among other achievements.
