BoxingScene.com has been advised by multiple sources that a deal is close for a WBO super featherweight eliminator between Eloy Perez (21-0-2) of Salinas, California and Luis Cruz of Las Piedras, Puerto Rico (18-0).
In January this eliminator was close to being set for February 18th in Washington before the talks collapsed. Since then Perez has picked up two more wins and Cruz picked up a win in April.
The winner would be the mandatory challenger to Ricky Burns belt.
September 2nd is the likely date for the battle of unbeaten prospects. The venue is still to be determined.
