In a recent interview with Franklin McNeil of The Star-Ledger, Floyd Mayweather, Jr. adviser Leonard Ellerbe, fired back at the camp of WBO welterweight champion Antonio Margarito, by saying that there is no way that Floyd is ducking the power-puncher from Mexico.
"First and foremost, Floyd's been in about 16 world championship fights. Margarito, from last I checked, has four losses. He's never fought an elite fighter. I repeat, he's never fought an elite fighter," said Ellerbe. "Floyd is the best fighter in the world. He's fought top-level competition throughout his career. He's never ducked or dodged anyone. And last I checked, Floyd's undefeated.
Ellerbe did state that he felt Margarito is a good fighter, he is in the running to be Mayweather's November 4 opponent, but Floyd will make easy work out of him if the two fighters ever meet in the ring.
"Margarito's a good fighter. He's not a bum. We don't have a problem fighting Margarito. Floyd will make easy work of him just like he does everybody else. There's no way a slow, flat-footed fighter is going to beat the best fighter in the world. There's no way."
