An exciting doubleheader is scheduled for January 14th to kick off the 2017 boxing campaign on Showtime. WBC super middleweight champion Badou Jack (20-1-2) will face IBF champion James DeGale (23-1) in a unification bout.
The co-featured bout will be a battle of unbeaten super featherweights. IBF champion Jose "Sniper" Pedraza (22-0) will defend his title against Gervonta "Tank" Davis (16-0). The action will take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe is very confident that both of his fighters, Jack and Davis, will leave New York with all of the hardware that is on the line.
Pedraza will be a big step up in class for Davis, while DeGale is one of the toughest opponents of Jack's career.
"Tank's a phenomenal talent. He is going to become world champion that night and we are going to come back to Vegas with three world titles," said Ellerbe to BoxingScene.com.who is also very excited about the main event.
"It's a tremendous fight. Two excellent fighters. It is going to be a great fight. James DeGale is extremely talented, IBF champion, against Badou Jack the WBC champion. The best fighting the best in an unification. That's what boxing is about."
Jack, who holds a victory over DeGale conqueror George Groves, recently told BoxingScene.com that a move up to light heavyweight could happen in the near future.
