It's being reported in the Domincan Republic that WBC featherweight champion in recess, Elio Rojas (22-1, 13KOs), could return to the ring in the month of May in a rematch with Guty Espadas Jr. (45-8, 28KOs) in New York City. Rojas dominated Espadas on February 20, 2010 in Merida, Mexico, in the first defense of the title he won in Japan in July 2009. Elio's attorney, Victor Rojas, told reporters in the Dominican Republic that negotiations with Espadas' team are ongoing.

Rojas has been out of the ring since he underwent a major operation on his right hand on August 13. The lagging injury worsened during training camp for a cancelled fight with Yuriorkis Gamboa.

"Elio is training with great enthusiasm because he wants to return to the ring very soon and the rematch with Espadas is the most suitable fight to test his hand after the operation," he said to Yoel Adames. "Elio has not forgotten about the big fights, and he'll go after the division's own Gamboa, Juan Manuel Marquez and all other comers."
