UNCASVILLE, Connecticut – Another undefeated welterweight passed the toughest test of his career before Jaron Ennis entered the ring Saturday night at Mohegan Sun Arena.

Eimantas Stanionis dealt well with the movement and combination punching of veteran welterweight Thomas Dulorme and won a unanimous decision in their 12-round WBA elimination match. Judges Tom Carusone (117-111), Frank Lombardi (116-112) and Steve Weisfeld (115-113) all scored Showtime’s co-feature for Lithuania’s Stanionis.

The 26-year-old Stanionis (13-0, 9 KOs), a 2016 Olympian, stalked Dulorme throughout their bout and eventually wore down Dulorme in the championship rounds. Puerto Rico’s Dulorme lost a second straight fight and slipped to 25-5-1 (16 KOs).

Dulorme, who has fought for junior welterweight and welterweight world titles, was a step up in competition for Stanionis. He looked sharp in his first fight with respected Cuban trainer Ismael Salas in his corner, but Stanionis persistent pressure drained Dulorme toward the end of their fight.

The rugged, strong Stanionis drilled Dulorme with a right uppercut and then a straight right in the middle minute of the final round. Dulorme took those punishing punches and made it to the final bell, but Stanionis clearly had won the championship rounds.

Stanionis stalked and out-landed Dulorme during the 11th round. By then, Dulorme bled from a cut around his left eye and appeared tired after maintaining fast pace for the first 10 rounds.

Dulorme let his hands go and landed two rights to Stanionis’ head early in the 10th round. A hard right hand by Stanionis seemed to open a cut around Dulorme’s left eye later in the 10th round.

A left hook by Stanionis moved Dulorme backward with just over two minutes left in the ninth round. Dulorme’s right to the side of Stanionis’ head made Stanionis reset his feet in the final minute of the ninth round.

Stanionis’ left hook caught Dulorme a minute into the eighth round. A left uppercut by Dulorme connected about 40 seconds later.

Stanionis landed a left hook to Dulorme’s head and then a left hook to Dulorme’s body that made Dulorme hold him with about 30 seconds to go in the eighth round.

A combination by Dulorme landed with just under a minute to go in the seventh round. Stanionis pressured Dulorme throughout that round, but Dulorme was effective fighting off his back foot.

Dulorme’s right to Stanionis’ head knocked Stanionis off balance early in the sixth round. A jarring jab by Stanionis backed up Dulorme just after the halfway point of the sixth round.

Dulorme and Stanionis traded left hooks about 50 seconds into the fifth round. Stanionis landed a left hook up top with about 1:20 to go in that fifth round.

Stanionis’ right to the side of Dulorme’s head buckled his legs just after the midway point of the fourth round. Stanionis followed up with a left hook, but Dulorme stood his ground and fought his way out of that troublesome moment.

A left hook up top by Stanionis got Dulorme’s attention about 1:20 into the third round. Dulorme’s left to Stanionis’ body landed flush with just under a minute remaining in the third.

Stanionis landed another left hook to Dulorme’s head toward the end of the third round.

Stanionis shoved Dulorme to the canvas about 50 seconds into the second round. Once the action resumed, Stanionis’ straight right connected to Dulorme’s head.

Stanionis stalked Dulorme for the remainder of that second round and landed the more effective punches.

Stanionis kept Dulorme on his back foot for most of the first round, when his best shot was a right to the side of Dulorme’s head. Dulorme landed jabs and body shots during that opening round, though.
