In what was supposed to be a bit of test this past Saturday night at the Sportsmans Lodge in Studio City, California, was instead another early knockout for welterweight prospect Egidijus Kavaliauskas who stopped the usually slick Prenice Brewer in two punishing rounds.
So what's next for 'the Mean Machine', who upped his ledger to 12-0 (11 KO's)?
"April 9th in Las Vegas at the Pacquiao-Bradley show, the undercard,"said his manager, Egis Klimas. Sources say that he could be paired with undefeated German Deniz Ilbay ( 15-0/8 KO's).
When asked how quickly he'd like to move his fighter, Klimas stated - "As fast as Top Rank can move him."
And yes, they are yearning for a title shot immediately.
"I would've taken it this time, the title shot,"said Klimas, who's best known client is light heavyweight king, Sergey Kovalev, who early on was unattached promotionally.
"Kovalev at the same time didn't have a promoter. (Egidijus) has a promoter so he's being promoted and is more recognizable, thus far. If I would've had the possibility early on to promote Kovalev, they would've been saying the exact same thing about Kovalev. This kid is something else.
So can the 27-year old Lithuanian surpass the exploits of 'the Krusher'?
"You can't say who's better, who worse but I think he's definitely a world champion, no questions asked,"stated Klimas.
