According to police sources in El Vigia, Venezuala, WBC lightweight champion Edwin Valero has been arrested over allegations that he attacked family members during a domestic dispute on Thursday night. From what is being alleged, Valero had a vicious argument with his mother and sister at their home, and at some point the sister is claiming that Valero attacked them. Neighbors called police after hearing very loud back and forth yelling coming from the house.

When police arrived Valero was gone. They began a search for Valero who they later found driving in a van with three friends. He was arrested and taken to the police station for questioning. He was later taken to the hospital for some tests to be run. Police believe Valero was intoxicated when the dispute with family members turned physical. It's not the first time Valero has been in trouble in Venezuela. He made plenty of headlines with his infamous nightclub brawl and a few months ago he was arrested when a firearm was discovered in his vehicle, though Valero claimed afterwards the cops who pulled him over were looking for money and took him in when he refused to pay them off.

There has been no confirmation of Valero being charged with anything. The police are following their course of action after Valero's sister pressed charges. Valero is one of the hardest punchers in the sport. It's hard to believe he attacked with a closed fist. One source had heard it was nothing more than a shoving match that is being overblown by the sister and media in Venezuela.
