YOKOHAMA, Japan - Eduardo “Sugar” Nunez and Masanori Rikiishi were both inside the 130lb limit at today’s official weigh-in.
The pair will collide this Wednesday at the BUNTAI in Yokohama, Japan, for the vacant IBF junior lightweight title. Nunez, the No. 1 ranked challenger, has been waiting for his shot for some time, and had been in talks to face then-champion Anthony Cacace before the Irishman vacated in favor of a contest with Leigh Wood.
Nunez looked strong at the weight and hit the scales at 129.4lbs. The towering southpaw Rikiishi looked tight at the weight and weighed in at 129.6lbs.
Yoshiki Takei will headline the bill out in Japan when he defends his WBO bantamweight title against Yuttapong Tongdee. Both men were inside the 118lb limit, with the defending champion weighing in at 117.9lbs whilst Tongdee came in at 117.1lbs.
