The undercard to Arthur Abraham vs. Robert Stieglitz on Saturday night at the Getec (formerly known as the Boerdeland Halle) Arena in Magdeburg features a few interesting fights and one of them is the heavyweight clash between Edmund Gerber, 22-1, and Gbenga Oloukun, formerly known as Bang Bang Gbenga and promoted by Spotlight Boxing, 18-8.

Gerber lost to Michael Sprott, who fight Robert Helenius on this show, last time out and has a lot to prove. A second loss almost certainly means he´s out of the Sauerland team. Oloukun comes in instead of Werner Kreiskott and has fallen victim to a number of strange decisions in the last few years. Last time out he had Erkan Teper down twice but no count was given and he lost a decision and he got blatantly robbed in a unlicensed tourmanent fight in Cyprus in 2010. It must also be said that Gbenga got a lucky break in 2006 when Latvian journeyman Mendaugas Kulikauskas had Gbenga down and out from a legitimate bodyshot - only to have it ruled low and Oloukun got a timeout, recovered and cruised to a points win. Such is boxing and come Saturday we will see a genuine crossroads fight.
