At Arena Mexico in Mexico City, WBC International flyweight champion Edgar Sosa (41-6, 24 KOs) stopped Kenichi Horikawa (20-10-1, 4 KOs) of Japan in the eight round. The fight was a planned tuneup before Sosa challenges the full champion of the WBC, Pongsaklek Wongjongkam of Thailand.

Across the ocean in Okinawa, Japan, Daiki Kameda (20-2, 12 KOs) evened up the score for his countrymen, by stopping Jesus Martinez (21-7, 12 KOs) of Mexico in the fifth round. Kameda recently made a move to the super flyweight division but the fight took place well above the division's limit of 115-pounds. Martinez was far too small to compete with the former WBA flyweight champ.
