Promoter Gabriel “Bebot” Elorde Jr a short while ago confirmed that his fighter, WBC International flyweight champion Ryan Bito will face former world light flyweight champion Edgar Sosa on September 11 at the Plaza de Toros in Mexico City.
The fight will be on the same card where Mexican legend and former world champion Erik “El Terrible” Morales will battle Willie Limond in Morales’ comeback bid.
Elorde told us that Bito who is coming off a war against extremely tough Thai fighter Saenmuangloei last July 31 which Bito won by a 10th round TKO when American referee Gene del Bianco stopped the bout at 1:44 of the round has been back in training and is looking forward to the fight against Sosa.
Del Bianco called a halt when the Thai was in no position to continue after Bito battered him with a series of vicious shots.
Although Bito is tough and durable which somehow doesn’t reflect his 18-6-3, 6 KO’s fight record he faces a classy former champion in Sosa who has a record of 39-6 with 23 knockouts.
Sosa suffered a nasty head-butt that fractured his left cheekbone in a 2nd round TKO loss to Rodel Mayol on November 21, 2009 and was forced to take a six month break.
However, the 30 year old Sosa came back with a vengeance at a higher weight scoring a 2nd round knockout over Roberto Carlos Leyva on June 5, 2010 followed by a 4th round TKO over Jose Luis Varela last August 7.
