WBC Light Flyweight Champion Edgar Sosa says he’d like to fight fellow Mexican Omar Nino.

And after being presented with two cakes of congratulation, Edgar said he’d like to add some icing, by fighting Omar who’s currently number two in the rankings, and might shape up as an official challenger following an elimination bout.

Omar Nino defeated Edgar on points, back in October 2002. But Edgar has been undefeated in his last 23 fights.

To stay busy Edgar, who says he wants to defend his title ten times within this year  and then move up to Flyweight, will have an option defense, which is penciled in for May 30th in Tuxla Gutierrez, the State Capitol of the Southern Mexican State of Chiapas. His next opponent has yet to be determined.

Talking about his incredibly busy schedule, Edgar said: “The time has passed very quickly but I’m very happy. I’ve matured boxing wise as a champion and  I’ve worked very hard. All world title defenses are complicated, but the most difficult was against Juanito Rubillar. He had a lot of experience, and it was the first time I’ve been cut in a fight, and I suffered four in this one. But I used all my accumulated previous experience and my preparation to win through.”

Executive Secretary of the WBC Mauricio Sulaiman praised Edgar stressing: “Edgar is a formidable boxer. Every time he gets into the ring he’s getting better and better with outstanding development of technique, strength and attitude. He’s also maintaining a great pace.”

A devoted family man, Edgar blew out the cake candles with his Wife Karina, their ten year old daughter Ared and their one year old son Natan.
