Edgar Sosa will fight Venezuelan Jose Luis Varela in Mexico City on August 7th, as a next step in his quest to win a second world title.
Looking a less hollow cheeked, as a fully fledged Flyweight, Edgar has made an excellent recovery from the triple cheekbone fracture he suffered from headstrong Filipino Rodel Mayol last November, who won the WBC Light Flyweight in extremely controversial circumstances.
Edgar who's from Mexico City, said he's delighted his upcoming fight will be in the Arena Mexico. Varela has three times unsuccessfully contested a world title including a bout with Ivan Calderon. So he's a credible test for Edgar, who says he wants two more fights after this, to ready and steady himself for a flyweight title bout early next year.
Edgar said: "Varela is an obstacle in the way, that I've got to pass, in another step toward another world title. Previously, in moments of depression I thought about my injury, but fortunately I made a good comeback in Acapulco (second round KO of Roberto Leyva) and I've got the hunger as well as the ambitin to be champion of the world again."
