WBC junior flyweight champion Edgar Sosa (35-5, 19KOs) is set to make his second defense of the year against Carlos Melo (19-8, 2KOs) of Colombia. The fight takes place on June 20 at the World Trade Center in Boca del Rio, Veracruz, Mexico.
Talk about an easy fight. Sosa fights often but very few of his defenses are against opponents who are considered serious threats. This fight is a clear mismatch and I can't even believe that the WBC will allow the bout to go forward. Maybe if Sosa was coming off an injury or a long layoff, the fight would have some merit. But Sosa fights at least four times a year.
The only positive against Melo is his chin. Nobody has stopped him. Other than that, he has no power, inexperienced and lost two of his last three fights.
