Almost recovered from a serious cut that was suffered on his forehead against Hugo Cazares in August, WBO junior flyweight champ Ivan Calderon (32-0, 6KOs) is looking to return in February in Puerto Rico. Calderon's co-promoter, Ivan Rivera of Puerto Rico Best Boxing, is still trying to get him a fight with WBA interim-junior flyweight champ Cesar Canchila (27-1, 21KOs) of Colombia.

Rivera says that Canchila is the top option, but Brian Viloria, who is now ranked at number one by the WBO - is another. They would like to unify with WBC champion Edgar Sosa, but Rivera claims the Mexican fighter refuses to leave his country and refuses to unify.

"We want Calderon to defend the title here in Puerto Rico. We want to see how the dates are squared off on HBO in the first two months of the 2009 and then we will put together our plan. We do not want that conflict with other events. The first option if Canchila, but he's been offered a fight in Mexico," Rivera told Primera Hora.

"Edgar Sosa continues to make defenses in Mexico and refuses to unify with Calderon because he knows that he runs the risk of losing the title. A while back we had some talks about doing a fight with Viloria, but then he had some losses. Now he is [ranked at] number one and we can revive those conversations"
