Former world champion Edgar Sosa is confident that he'll shock undefeated WBC flyweight champion Roman "Chocolatito" González on May 16th at The Forum in Inglewood, California. Sosa (51-8, 30 KOs), at 35-years-old, is hungry to bring a world title back to Mexico by turning back "Chocolatito" (42-0, 36 KOs). The fight will be the televised HBO co-feature to the Gennady Golovkin vs. Willie Monroe Jr. middleweight clash.
"It will be a very intense fight with Roman Gonzalez, who will be pressing from the start as is his style, throwing body shots, hooks, rights, everything. I'm prepared to withstand the punishment. Román won the title from Japan's Akira Yaegashi, who I could not beat. So it's a great fight. He is getting the respect he deserves. I expect a great battle," Sosa said.
"Román is a physically strong, skilled and intelligent fighter. However, we are going to find the key by boxing smart. There are some fighters who at 35 or 38 years are at the prime of their career. Trust me, my experience will be proven on the day of the fight. I'll do my work. I'm doing a very intense workout. I will get to him by boxing smart. I want to make an impression on HBO, for sure, and I think Roman is the best [at this weight]."
