Mexico’s Eden Marquez is ready “ to show what he’s got” according to his manager Fernando Dominiguez when he battles WBO Intercontinntal super bantamweight champion Rey “Boom Boom” Bautista at the plush Waterfront Hotel on Saturday.

In an interview with insidesports.ph, Dominguez said Marquez had trained for the past three months and was “ready for anything” and was grateful for the opportunity to face Bautista who is currently ranked No. 2 in the WBO world rankings.

Dominguez said Marquez who has a record of 16-3-3 with 12 knockouts to his name was in great shape and “pretty strong.“

He said the fight in Cebu which will be telecast by the giant broadcast network ABS-CBN was his first fight out of Mexico but added, “it makes no difference.

ABS-CBN Vice President for Sports, Peter  Musngi said the fights will be telecast over Studio 23 beginning at 7:00 p.m. and carried globally by The Filipino Channel TFC. It will also be replayed on the pre-eminent Channel 2 on Sunday at 10:30 p.m.

Bautista who is on a successful comeback after his stunning first round knockout at the hands of the menacing Daniel Ponce De Leon in a WBO world title fight in August last year at the Arco Arena in Sacramento has won both his fights since then.

He battled to a solid win over another fighter of Dominguez, Antonio Meza last December and then annihilated Genaro Camargo via a second round knockout last April 6 at the Araneta Coliseum.

Bautista may have considered the clash with Camargo an easy fight but he’s not taking any chances with Marquez, the 23 year old who is coming off an impressive third KO over Ernesto Rivera, a veteran of 39 fights, last June 28.

Bautista, a far more mature fighter today both in an out of the ring, realizes his No.2 ranking as well as his reputation is on the line especially since he will be fighting before basically a hometown crown that hasn’t seen him in action “live” for some time now.
