Eddie Hearn of Matchroom has confirmed that Jamie McDonnell and Tomoki Kameda is a done deal. The promoter revealed that the contracts have been inked after McDonnell beat Javier Nicolar Chacon by 10-round injury TKO at Liverpool's Echo Arena earlier tonight.
McDonnell, 25-2-1 (12), will head to Vegas for the WBA and WBO unification after handing Chacon his third loss, against 20 wins (5 KOs). Japan's WBO boss Kameda, 31-0 (19) beat Alejandro Hernandez over 12 last time, a split-decision win, to keep his side of the unification bout in play.
"It's done, he signed the contract last week," said Hearn following McDonnell's hard-fought win. "That's done now—it looks like Vegas in March against Kameda," he added.
