“Fight Night 36: Eddie Chambers” will debut Wednesday night on NBC Sports Network at 9 p.m. EDT/PDT.
The half-hour, all-access show shadowed Philadelphia’s Chambers during his recently completed training camp in Detroit, where he trained at the Kronk Gym for his 12-round heavyweight fight Saturday night against Tomasz Adamek at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.
Chambers (36-2, 18 KOs) will fight for the first time Saturday night since he beat Derric Rossy (26-5, 14 KOs) by unanimous decision 16 months ago in Atlantic City. He has withdrawn from his last two scheduled fights, against Tony Thompson and Sergei Liakhovich, due to back and rib injuries, respectively.
The Adamek fight also will be Chambers’ first with head trainer James Ali Bashir in his corner. Bashir assists Emanuel Steward in training WBA/WBO/IBF champion Wladimir Klitschko, who knocked out Chambers in the 12th round of their heavyweight title fight two years ago in Dusseldorf, Germany.
“I was in camp for a couple months, close to eight weeks,” Chambers said. “We’ve been working on some real important things. We needed the extra time to get it together and really get well-prepared for this, with this being a big fight, my first fight back in over a year. It’s very important.”
NBC Sports Network will replay “Fight Night 36: Eddie Chambers” on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., on Friday at 9 a.m. and 11 p.m. and on Saturday at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., just before the live broadcast begins (9 p.m.) from Prudential Center with a 10-round heavyweight bout between Philadelphia heavyweight Bryant Jennings (13-0, 6 KOs) and Houston’s Steve Collins (25-1-1, 18 KOs).
