After winning his last fight on November 30th against Héctor Muñoz by unanimous decision in ten rounds; Ed “The Lion” Paredes 32-3-1 (21 KO's) took a deserved break, and next Monday, January 7th, he plans to resume training with his coach Jorge Rubio - and his full focus is set on landing a title shot in 2013.
“Paredes has everything to get a victory against the best welterweights in the world. He has power in both hands and the skills to defeat them by points or knockout," Jorge Rubio said.
“Paredes is in the best moment of his career, he obtained four victories in 2012 and he is classified in the number 3 position under the WBA's rankings - so this year we hope to go up against the current champion Paul Maliggnaggi or Marcos Maidana and I am sure that Parades is capable of beating them."
On the other hand, Paredes’s promoter Henry Rivalta of Acquinity Sports in Deerfield Beach, Florida said.
“We are working to secure a title shoot for Paredes as soon as possible in 2013. We have confidence in our fighter. And we know that they will not be able to avoid him for a long time. When we finalize these fights, we are confidente that Ed Paredes will be the next WBA welterweight world champion," Rivalta said.
