The word coming out of the UK is that veteran Antwun Echols could end up as the next opponent for undefeated super middlweight champion Joe Calzaghe. Calzaghe was rumored to be moving up to light heavyweight in order to challenge Glen Johnson but he may have put those plans on hold pending a potential challenge from Felix Trinidad at 168 pounds.

Echols against Calzaghe has the potential to be an all out slugfest. Echols is man Bernard Hopkins said "hit him the harder then any other opponent".

Echols' last defeat came by way of a decision loss to Anthony Mundine in 2003, he posted two wins in 2004 since the loss.

Should Calzaghe get past Echols, he will try to get a fight with Felix Trinidad or move up to challenge Glen Johnson.

Trinidad's fight with junior middleweight Winky Wright is plagued by negotiation problems, making now the right time to make a bout with Trinidad happen.
