Evangelista Cotto, uncle and trainer of Miguel Cotto, confirmed the scoop that has a lot of people excited. Early Thursday morning, BoxingScene.com's editor, Rick Reeno, dropped a another big news breaker when he revealed that Top Rank and Lou DiBella were both interested in a potential fight between Cotto and undefeated WBC champion Andre Berto. Cotto's return is still being eyed for February 14.

And although Evangelista confirms that Berto is indeed in the running to fight Cotto in February, he says that several names were mentioned, including Kermit Cintron, Jesus Soto Karras, Michael Jennings of the UK and IBF champion Joshua Clottey. And while several names were mentioned, Evangelista says that landing a world title bout is very important to Miguel right now.

"In our conversation with Bob Arum [Top Rank head], Berto's name was mentioned, but he was one of several. We would not have a problem with fighting Berto. To us he presents a very attractive name," Evangelista told Primera Hora. "Miguel is more determined than ever in becoming world champion again. At this phase of his career, it's important for us to move forward and not backwards."

Cotto's return will be his first since a crushing loss to Antonio Margarito in July. Margarito stopped him in eleven rounds. A rematch between Cotto and Margarito is on deck for next June. Margarito is close to a deal to fight Shane Mosley in January.
