At the Laredo Energy Arena in Laredo, Texas, a battle held at the catch-weight of 170-pounds saw Dyah Davis (19-2-1, 9KOs) win a ten round unanimous decision over previously undefeated and highly regarded Marcus Johnson (20-1, 15KOs). The scores were 98-91, 98-91 and 96-93. Davis was the better boxer in almost every round and sent Johnson down in the ninth from a hard shot to the ribs.
Junior welterweight Gabriel Bracero (15-0, 1KOs) was able to outhustle Danny O'Connor (14-1, 3KOs) for an eight round unanimous decision in a battle of unbeaten non-punchers. With both boxers having four knockouts between them, the fight was practically a sure bet for the scorecards. The scores were 80-72, 80-72 and 79-73 for Bracero. O'Connor looked sluggish, his nose was injured during the action and he looked fatigued in the later rounds.
Welterweight prospect Vincent Arroyo (11-1, 7KOs) won an eight round majority decision over previously undefeated Willie Nelson (16-1-1, 10KOs). The scores were 75-73 on two cards for Arroyo and a 74-74 card for a draw. Nelson was dropped in rounds three, six and seven. Arroyo was penalized a point in round three for excessive holding and it coset him a unanimous decision in a very close fight.
