Welterweight prospect Dusty Hernandez-Harrison will be making his third appearance underneath a Gennady Golovkin bout when he appears July 26 at Madison Square Garden in New York City, on the undercard to Golovkin’s middleweight title bout against Daniel Geale.
No opponent has been named yet for the 20-year-old from Washington, D.C. His appearance on the July 26 card was announced at a June 7 press event in Manhattan for Golovkin-Geale and Bryant Jennings vs. Mike Perez.
Hernandez-Harrison also fought on the undercard to Golovkin’s June 2013 win over Matthew Macklin at Foxwoods in Mashantucket, Connecticut, and at Golovkin’s November win over Curtis Stevens at the Theater at Madison Square Garden. Both of those Golovkin bouts were broadcast by HBO.
Hernandez-Harrison, his father/trainer, Buddy, and Jeff Fried of All-In Entertainment, which promotes Dusty, all chatted with HBO’s Peter Nelson before the June 7 press event. Later, Hernandez-Harrison was called to the stage to speak briefly, and got to pose with the four fighters who will be on the broadcast.
“To be honest, I want to catch the attention of everybody,” Hernandez-Harrison told BoxingScene.com. “But HBO, that’s big. They’re a powerhouse.”
Hernandez-Harrison last fought in May, scoring his third win of 2014 by scoring a fourth-round technical knockout of 69-66-2 journeyman Roberto Valenzuela at a card held at the Mountaineer Casino in Chester, West Virginia.
That victory brought his record to 22-0 with 12 KOs.
