Boxingscene.com recently caught up with 23-year-old junior welterweight Thomas Dulorme (18-1) of Puerto Rico. The once beaten prospect faces Frankie "Gato" Figueroa on August 17th on HBO Latino. Dulorme said that he plans on putting on proving the critics wrong when he steps in the ring.
"I am going to do my job in the ring like I always do. A lot of people are still talking about the Abregu loss but I am going to do what I did before and that is win, and win convincingly," Dulorme stated.
I also asked Dulorme for his opinion on the September 14th showdown between Danny Garcia and Lucas Matthysse that takes place on the Floyd Mayweather-Canelo Alvarez pay-per-view undercard. It wasn't surprising that Dulorme picked Garcia to pull off the upset and said that he would like to face both fighters in the future.
"I will stand by the Puerto Rican fighter, Danny Garcia. A lot of people say that Matthysse is going to do this and do that but Garcia has a lot of artillery at his disposal. You have to understand that Matthysse has spent the majority of his career in Argentina and that when he came here he had problems with Zab Judah and then Devon Alexander. There is a higher level of talent here in the United States. I think that Garcia's experience level will help bring him to victory. I am really going to pay close attention to that fight because hopefully in the future I will get the chance to fight one of them or even both of them," Dulorme told BoxingScene.com.
